Interior Design

Interior Design is a creative and technically challenging
field. Training at college for a career in interior decorating is for
those who have a keen sense of aesthetics and a thorough understanding
of the importance of using space effectively and efficiently. While learning
different aspects of design, students develop the artistic abilities necessary
in order to carry out both commercial and residential projects. The Academy
in Montreal provides AutoCAD (computer assisted design) training that
enables the student to be on the leading edge of the Interior Design Field.
The Academy's approach to Interior Design is to develop the student's
talents and skills to their fullest potential through exposure to all
aspects of interior decoration.

Upon completion of their program, interior design
students will be able to:
 |
Participate in the design, development
and execution of architectural drafts and interior plans as well as
technical plans; |
 |
Understand the concepts and fundamental principles
of problem solving and the efficient use of space; |
 |
Participate in the preliminary planning or programming
and concept development; |
 |
Outline a decoration plan through the use of sketches,
photos and models; |
 |
Select, specify and coordinate the use of various
products, materials and services required to carry out a project;
|
 |
Prepare estimates and requests for tenders; |
 |
Supervise workers. |

The program includes a 2-month internship within a
company to practice skills learned throughout the Interior Design program.
